Andy Cohen’s summer road trips have been…a lot. There’s no doubt his family of three has had fun when they reached their final destination. (We’re screaming over this adorable picture of them at Amagansett Beach in the Hamptons!) But their drives to and from have been…less than picture-perfect.
You may remember back in June when Cohen and his kids Ben, 4 and Lucy, 1 went for what must have been a humbling drive for the Bravo star. After dealing with construction traffic, screaming from the backseat, and an apparent car sickness crisis, the Watch What Happens Live host made the mistake of trying to reason with his 4-year-old. He told Ben he was a champ and Ben insisted he was not a champ.
“Well, I mean, you’re a champion,” Cohen said. “No, I’m not! I’m not a champion!” Ben said. “OK, what are you?” Cohen asked, in the classic tone of parental defeat. “Nothing, I’m just a little boy…I mean, I’m a big kid.”
“You’re my favorite little boy, did you know that?” Cohen said, missing Ben’s critical correction.
“I’m not a little boy!” “Oh OK, you just said you were —” “I’m a big kid!”
“OK, you’re my favorite big kid,” Cohen said. “Stop telling me that,” Ben said, because apparently Cohen just can’t win.
YIKES! Well, this Labor Day Weekend, on the Cohen family’s drive back from the Hamptons, Cohen told his kids there were only three hours left until they would be home. And what was he met with? A chorus of crying and screaming from the backseat. “It’s gonna be a fun drive,” he said sarcastically to the camera.
The siblings’ theatrics didn’t last long, because the next snapshot is of Lucy totally passed out in her car seat, taking what looks to be a really solid snooze. Because what’s the best way to pass the time on a road trip (besides playing with one of these toys)? Catch some Z’s!
The little girl has a pink blanket over her lap and another blanket balled up next to her head, acting like a makeshift pillow. And the crème de la crème? A black eye mask to block out the afternoon sun. It’s a genius move that has us asking, why have we never kept eye masks in the glove compartment for our kids? Or for ourselves when riding shotgun? It seems like a total game-changer, and you know we’ll be adding them to our next packing list.
Well, Cohen, as much as we’ll miss your summer road trip shenanigans, we hope you can also whip out an eye mask this weekend. Because after a summer of non-stop, traffic-filled car rides, you deserve a solid snooze too.
